Hardinero is a Filipino independent film directed by one of the country's most renowned directors, Brillante Mendoza. It was released in the Philippines on September 21, 2019. The movie speaks to the theme of "youthful rebellion" through its central character - Cash Adora, a 20-year-old aspiring filmmaker who is torn between his aspirations for success and finding happiness in his current life. The film also features John Arcilla, Hazel Ruth Villarama, Cris Villonco Jr., and Antoinette Jadaone. Muhlach, who has been nominated for the best supporting actor in the FAMAS Award, plays Cash's brother. Valeriene Czarina is the film's biggest star, with her performance being widely praised. Hardinero was Mendoza's first film opening in theaters since his critically acclaimed "Heneral Luna" in 2015. One of the most talked about but least talked about films this year would be Hardinero. It is Brillante Mendoza’s (director) second post-Luna movie after his controversial documentary Kasaysayan ng Dulo Ng Buhay ("The Real Life of Dulo Molito") in 2017. Hardinero began its shooting in July 2018; however, it was not promoted in most film festivals. It was not even invited to the Cinema One Originals. This led to speculation that the film was nothing but a filler for Brillante Mendoza between two projects that he is supposed to do in 2020 i.e. his movie on Martial Law and his movie on Edsa Revolution anniversary. Cash Adora (John Arcilla) is a 20-year-old aspiring filmmaker with big dreams who has recently broken up with his longtime girlfriend Skye (Angel Aquino). He desperately seeks a way out of the relationship. He attempts to win her back by telling how he used to be a good boy, but then one day got into a car accident that left him in a wheelchair and changed his personality for the worst. Now he has no family, no friends, and no dreams. A chance meeting with a musician in a café inspires him to re-examine his life and his ambitions. Cash meets Andy (Cris Villonco Jr.). Andy is an aspiring rapper from Bulacan who wants to give up on music when he learns that Cash is trying to make it big in the film industry. The two become friends with Cash teaching Andy about filmmaking. Andy also becomes friends with Cash’s brother Datu (Derek Ramsay). While Andy tries to keep his dream of becoming a successful rapper alive, he is confronted with the harsh realities of the music business. This leads him to re-evaluate his attitude toward life. It also reveals new layers to his personality as he learns new things about himself, the people around him, and the world in general. Cash’s budding career as an aspiring filmmaker is at risk when he realizes that being a good person does not automatically bring him success. He chooses to give up on being a filmmaker instead of sacrificing his integrity as an artist. cfa1e77820
